Garden Update!!

We went from this....
To....
In these top two can kinda see the onions, potatoes, corn, beans, peas, squash, and cucumbers!!
These two above show a straight shot for the beans and peas. You can also see the gourds and zucchini up front!
Here is a shot at the peppers and tomatoes! They are hard to see because, well, they are kinda taking a while to get big. The weather went from HOT to cold to HOT HOT HOT to wet wet wet. However, they are coming along and trying their hardest to get up and going.

So far we have harvested cayenne peppers and 1 zucchini. We have more zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, and peppers growing now. Its only a matter of time now, well and weeding!!

Poor Chick...

The other day I was out back working. Lulu is usually always by my side, but for some reason she wasn't there. I did however hear a strange cluck. It was more of a Bwack...cluck...save me...Scream of a Bwack. I ran around front to find out where Lulu had been. One of the chicks had gotten out of their pen and was being used as a ball. Lulu was throwing her up into the air, catching her in her mouth, and then again throwing her up. It was awful!!
I yelled at Lulu, and went to check on the chick. She was ok, damaged emotionally, but ok. You see we used to have 32 chickens and we are now down to 17. 10 were given to a neighbor, and the others were murdered. Lulu (and probably Kaylee) have been eating very well these last few months.
(PS- I know I look stoned here, but what can I say? It was a very long day for the 2 of us)
That night when I went out to close the chicks up for the night I found my sweet tortured soul, and brought her in. You see she needed some one on one love with Todd and I. So, for the next 30 minutes or so she hung out with us on the couch.
Are we crazy?!?

Garden

Can you believe it, the garden is finally in!! After weeks of being put off from the weather, it is finally in!! I cant wait until harvest time comes, yum!

In our garden this year we have...
Tomatoes
Pumpkins
Cucumbers
Squash
Zucchini
Pepper and more Peppers
Corn
Beans
Peas
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Onions
and Gourds (for bird houses next year)
For all of you Ut friends, no my garden does not have trenches. Out here we get enough rain that I will not need to flood trenches along side of my plants! Awesome huh?

Food Storage Room...check!

Living in Utah was not my favorite, but there is one thing Utah has that you cant find anywhere else....Food Storage rooms in the basement!! You have got to love it, along with 2 living rooms (1 family room and 1 home teaching room).

Since moving back to TN we have been sleeping on our food storage, literally. There were buckets and buckets lined up under the beds, and closets stacked full of jars and #10 cans. Luckily, I am married to a Mr. build/fix it!! With Todd it can be a good thing or a bad thing. He can never have 2 projects going at once, so when he starts something, its work until 2 AM to finish it.

This time his crazy ways finally worked to my advantage. We had been talking about building out a room in our garage since we moved in, but we finally had motivation to get it done. You see Lauren, one of my most awesome sister-in-law's, is coming to stay the summer with us. How could Todd ask her to spend 2 months sleeping on buckets?? So, off to Home Depot we went. We started framing on a Wednesday and had it done by Thursday afternoon. So naturally, Thursday evening (in keeping with the "finish what you start" idea) we went to Home Depot to get the insulation. Friday we started insulating and had it done that morning!!
Then onto to dry walling...
We had that done by Saturday evening! We learned to tape and mud the seams, (thanks YouTube), and had the first coat done that night. We let it dry over the rest of the weekend, and the next week I moved the food storage into the garage...
Slam Bam and we are done. Luckily, this was a week when Todd had most days off!! I have since organized the buckets, and am starting to move all the jars out into the room also!
Once I get the jars out I can move the water containers in there and, Botta Bing Botta Boom, we are done! I love that we did this. I can once again have our house back to living supplies only!!

Cows talking!!!

The ladies were a little nervous during their first rain storm without their moms. Here they are talking to me telling me they are scared.

Introducing....

Lady Tasty and Miss Delicious!!!!
We had an exciting weekend! We woke up Saturday morning, and our newest friends had arrived. This is the most fun we have had here. I love having cows!! There is nothing like hearing a MOOOO from your front yard.
We have had fun getting to know them and welcoming them to our home. And who knew this, but they really do come when you call their names!! **Maybe I should come up with something a bit more kind than Lady Tasty and Miss Delicious**
I dont think I will ever get tired of seeing that out the window!!
