Is that a bat???

That is exactly what I said when I saw this beauty in the garden! Upon further review, I found that it is an heirloom Armenian Cucumber. Little did I know how productive these suckers are. Within two days I have harvested 5!! Not to mention, my lemon cukes and sumter cukes all came in nicely.
So if anyone knows of something, other than pickling, to do with cucumbers, I am all ears.

Bountiful Harvest!!

Today we harvested 4 zucchini, 2 yellow summer squash, 2 cucumbers, a huge handful of green beans, and yes you see them correctly, heirloom yellow beans!! They said it would be tough, they said it wasnt worth the hassle, they said the bugs would eat them all, but we did it!! We have about 30 heirloom yellow bean vines thriving out in the garden. It was far too muddy to harvest all that is being offered toady, but I reached in to grab a few. I can not tell you how excited I am to have these beans. Supposedly, they freeze beautifully and I cant wait!!! Until tomorrow...

Weekend Fun!!

This weekend was super fun, we went out to the infamous Gasparovich's lake house. I cant tell you how much fun we have every time we go out that way. Unfortunately, Todd was unable to go with us, more on that later, but we still managed to have a fabulous time.

We rode on the lake and enjoyed the view...
We each took turns driving the boat...
We even swam a little..
Don't forget the jet skiing...
When even ventured out to my home town of Asheville NC. We took a tour at the gorgeous Biltmore Estate and walked the gardens...
We even went on a walk down memory lane and drove by the house I grew up in...
Oh, Appalachian mountains, how I miss you sometimes....
It was a fantastic weekend!! Hope y'all all had a great 4th too!!

2nd egg of the flock

We got our very first Easter Egg this afternoon!! For some reason the pictures do not show you just how blue this egg is. Nevertheless, it is blue!! We are so excited to be getting our first eggs. As the title hints, this is our 2nd egg thus far. The first egg is a rather sad tale. We found a white egg, and then found the poor hen that laid it. She was outside the coop and no longer alive. This death can not be pinned on Lulu, like so many before. This death was a result of the cows! Yes, I said it...the cows!! They love the hens so much. And pearl (our lone leghorn) got out and was trampled. That was almost one week ago, and now we are seeing easter eggs!! I love it!!
These Easter Eggs Chickens are supposed to bless us with blue, green, pink, and purple eggs!! I will keep you posted as we discover the others....

Todays Harvest!!

In loving memory....

Yesterday was awful. I dont want to talk about, but I wanted to post some pics of her. I loved her very much, and am thankful to have had the chance to know her. I hope some day when we are reunited she wont be angry or disappointed in me for putting her down. She was truly loved by Todd and I. Addie, we miss you already. With you gone our home is more quiet and less exciting, but because you were here it is a better place. Your love is felt and deeply missed. You truly will be missed.
